Developments at the college

In this decade the most fundamental changes occured at the College as it entered an entirely new phase with the development of the new Derby College.

Broomfield merged with the existing Wilmorton College and Mackworth College to form the new and much larger establishment.

In doing so, it was following a common path with other former agricultural colleges up and down the country. The financial and organisational climate was becoming too challenging for smaller and specialist colleges such as Broomfield.
